  • Community Contributions: Any comments, reviews, or log notes you voluntarily submit when logging a book.

What We Do Not Collect

  • No Credit Card or Payment Data: Our game is free to play. We do not collect, process, or store credit card numbers or financial information.
  • No Continuous GPS Tracking: We do not track your real-time location as you walk or navigate. Location data is only recorded when you explicitly submit a scan.

2. Web Analytics (Plausible Analytics)

We use Plausible Analytics to measure site usage and traffic in a privacy-conscious way. Plausible is a lightweight, open-source web analytics tool built with privacy in mind:

  • Plausible does not use cookies.
  • It does not generate persistent persistent identifiers or track users across different websites.
  • All site usage statistics are collected in aggregate to help us understand overall site performance without profiling individual visitors.

  • Gameplay & Leaderboards: Displaying your scan history, computing points (10 points for first-time finds, 2 points for subsequent finds), and managing community leaderboards.
  • Fair Play & Security: Using IP addresses and log metadata to prevent cheat codes, duplicate scans, or abusive activity on the platform.
  • Community Interaction: Displaying public log comments attached to tagged books for other finders to enjoy.
  • Service Communication: Sending essential operational updates (such as account verification or password resets).

4. Data Sovereignty & Storage

We prioritize local data residency and Canadian data sovereignty standards:

  • Canadian Hosting: Your personal data, scan logs, and application database are hosted on secure infrastructure located strictly within Canada.
  • Data Sovereignty: By keeping our infrastructure on Canadian soil, we ensure compliance with Canadian privacy standards and avoid subject risks from foreign data access legislation (such as the US PATRIOT Act or CLOUD Act).

5. Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information or location history to third parties, advertisers, or data brokers.
